Not A Superhero

After picking up Adalaide's snoopy before Nora got it, I said:
"Aha! I saved snoopy!"
Lorelai then followed with:
"*sigh/eye roll* Mom...you're not a superhero."

Lorelai keeps me grounded.

Thoughts on Flying

Lorelai sees a plane flying in the night sky.

L: "Is that a plane?"
M: "Yep."
L: "Or maybe a helicopter."
M: "Maybe."
L: "Helicopters fly...like superheroes...and unicorns."

Lorelai and the Mountains

Driving into the hill country of New Mexico.

Lorelai: "Woah! Look at that big mountain...and that huge poop! Maybe a big huge dog did it."
Me and Chris: "Lorelai, those are bushes."

Chapstick Thief

I keep my chapstick by my bedside table. Not on the bedside table, because little children like to walk up and play with it; so I place it up on my windowsill where I thought it was safe from tiny hands. I noticed it was missing this afternoon. I looked all around the area. It didn't fall, it was completely gone. I then remembered waking up to Lorelai by my bed as she was messing with something. She walked off casually and I thought "ok, she didn't see that I was awake...5 more minutes." and I went back to sleep...but now, I am thinking that something that she was messing with was my chapstick.

Me: "Lorelai, did you take my chapstick this morning?"

LEL: "No." *quickly looks away*

Me: "Lorelai, did you take it?"

LEL: "Um.........I think so."

Me: "Where did you put it?"

LEL: "Um...I don't know...maybe...under my pillow?"

Sure enough, there it was.

Naming the Dogs

Lorelai has 3 little dog toys. Mostly beanie babies. A dachshund, a dalmatian, and a mut-like brown and white dog.

Holds up the dachshund.
L: This is Zuma.

Holds up the dalmatian.
L: This is Marshall.

Holds up the brown and white dog.
L: This is Honky-Donkey.

...Um...what?

What Lorelai Loves

Snuggling after dinner tonight-

Lorelai: "Mom, I love you."

Me: "Aw, I love you too."

Lorelai: "I love Paw Patrol."

Me: "Ah, well, at least I beat out Paw Patrol."

Lorelai: "...and strawberries."

Chris Feet

I was talking to my mom about the differences between Lorelai and Adalaide.

Me: "I remember looking down at Lorelai when she was born and thought 'Oh, she has Chris' feet!'"

Lorelai: "Hey. I don't have Chris feet. I have Lorelai feet!"

Me: "Yes, you do, but they look like Daddy's feet."

Lorelai: "Stop. Stop that right now."

So much Lorelai in such a small package.

Quick Quotes

A couple of my favorite one-liners from Lorelai lately:

"No, I'm just a kid."

"You love this game."

"It's too much!"

"Chicken, and fries, and ketchup."

"Talk to me!"

"Sugar beans."

"Why? Why? Why?"

"It's a great day."

"Hey...you're not grandma."

"Good morning America!"

You Beans

Lorelai was goofing around with me, Adalaide, her Grandma, her Uncles Zachary and Jacob, and her Aunt Hannah. She was showing off and being pretty silly. During this crazy show she had a declaration.

(To me) L: You queen.

M: Oh, thank you!

L: I'm the princess.

(She turns to everyone else in the room and points at them.)

L: You beans!

...ok...wait, what? "Bean(s)" is her new favorite thing to call someone when being silly. For some reason, I find this hilarious.

Snowflakes

I handed Lorelai her tiny heart box of chocolates this Valentine's day.

L: "Oh, thank you!"

M: "Do you know what's inside?"

L: "Snowflakes!"

...somehow chocolate seemed like a letdown after that response.

You're My Sweetheart

Lorelai's current favorite song: "Ho Hey" by The Lumineers.

She goes around singing "I long you, you long meeee, you my seeeeatheaaaaart!"
(I belong with you, you belong with me, you're my sweetheart.)

Out of tune, and in great volume.
She also calls it "the daddy song" for some reason.

All cute.

Real Names

Lorelai is learning that her parents and grandparents have actual names. Not everybody calls us "mom" and "dad."

She knows my name is Megan, though she has only used it once. Chris on the other hand is her new favorite thing to call dad.

After being unable to locate her dad in the house, she walked up to me and asked casually, "Mom? Where's Chris?"

So funny...to me. ;)

Calm Down

Chris was tracking down Adalaide, since she is quite the explorer, and found her in the bathroom. She was playing with Lorelai's training potty...again.

"What's so fascinating about the potty Addy?" He asked.
"Huh? What's so fascinating about the potty? Yeah? What's with that?" ...and so on. All in excited "baby-talk" voice.

Lorelai was listening from the other room, working with her Leappad. Without looking up from her game, she shouted to Chris....

"Dad! [pause] Calm. Down."

Priceless.
