Addy's Humor

Addy's first joke:

"Why you eat money?"

"Why?"

"Cause...you eat money!"

(I don't know what she meant.)

Kindle Games

Lorelai: "Can I play 'Angry Chicks?'"

Me: "You mean 'Angry Birds?'"

Lorelai: "Yes."

Howie

Whenever Addy names something, whether it be a doll, a stuffed animal, anything; her default name is Howie.

I love this completely random name choice, and how she says it. I hope when she is grown I can still hear her little voice in my head.

"What's his name?"

"Uh, Howie!"

Cute, cute.

Delivery from Mr. Bird

Lorelai is learning how to tell a joke, and well, how to be funny in general. She thinks she's hilarious, but the rest of us usually end up laughing more out of confusion.

Lorelai: "Ding dong! Mr. Bird here with a package for Daddy!"

Chris: "Oh thank you, what is it?"

Lorelai: "It's a cake."

Chris: *eats cake*

Lorelai: "Is it delicious?"

Chris: "Yes, thank you."

Lorelai: "Oh, and it also has worms and nuts in it."

She also has a version where, instead of a "cake", it's a "booty." We still haven't figure out where that came from.

Snuggles

A commercial for Snuggles fabric softener pods comes on the tv.

Lorelai: "I wish I could get that."

Me: "Lorelai, that's like...laundry detergent, it's not a toy."

Lorelai: "But, it keeps things fresh for 14 days!"

Advertising works well on this kid.

Ants

At a local tree farm, Adalaide discovered a fire ant pile with her feet. Poor kid was shouting and yelling. Chris scooped her up and we quickly started slapping off the ants from her feet, shoes, legs, and shorts. Everywhere we looked there was another ant. In the background Lorelai is standing, watching, and verbally scolding the ants.

"Naughty ants. Naughty, naughty ants! Naughty, naughty, naughty-"

Me: "Lorelai, stop yelling at the ants."

L: "But they are so naughty!"

Panic over Condiments

Addy likes to have ketchup and mustard with her fries at our favorite burger place, Scotty P's. I showed them one time that if you mix the red ketchup and the yellow mustard, you get an orange dipping sauce.
This was a hit with Lorelai, and next visit she asked to "mix colors" again. I picked up the mustard to add it to her ketchup (side note: this kid loves ketchup, and only ketchup). A look of panic washes over her face and reaches out to stop me.

"No, no, no! That's going to make it so much worse!"

She then instructed me to add it to Adalaide's plate instead.

Self Identity

Adalaide's new thing is to "correct" people on her name.

Me: "You are a silly billy."

Addy: "No. (points to self) Addy!"

Chris: " You are a crazy baby."

Addy: "No. (points to self) Addy!"

Me: "You are so funny."

Addy: "No. (points to self) Addy!"

We do this at least a half a dozen times a day. At least she is proud of who she is. ;)

Feelings about Color

Lorelai was sitting on the couch and decided to share this thought:

"I like all the colors of the rainbow."

Me: "I know you do."

Lorelai: "Except dark green. Dark green makes me mad."

Camping

Me: "Lorelai, do you feel like you're camping?"

Lorelai: "Yeah, I want a mushroom on a stick!"

Me: "You mean a marshmellow on a stick?"

Lorelai: "...yeah."

It's All About the Visual

How a 4 year old negotiates with a 2 year old:

Lorelai: "Adawade, can you move, please?"

Adalaide does not move.

L: "Pretty please?"

Addy still does not move.

L: "Pretty please with a cherry on top?"

Nope, not moving.

L: "Pretty please with a cherry on top and rainbow sprinkles?!"

Adalaide steps aside.

Nicely done, Lorelai.
